India 7th Most Cyber-Breached Country in the World, Russia Tops the Charts

According to a report issued by the cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, India has been ranked 7th in the world in terms of experiencing the most cyber breaches. Russia topped the list, followed by the United States and China.

India experienced a total of 12.16 million cyber-breaches in 2020, which is a 7.2% increase from the previous year. The study also noted that India was the only South Asian nation to make it to the list.

The report shed light on the widespread cyber-attacks that plagued the world in 2020. It noted that the overall number of cyber-breaches had increased by 4.2%, with the total number reaching 58.7 million.

The study also highlighted the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on cyber security. It noted that due to the increased use of digital technologies during the pandemic, cybercriminals had shifted their focus toward attacking vulnerable systems. This resulted in an increase in the number of cyber-breaches.

In addition to this, the report also noted that the majority of cyber-attacks were motivated by financial gain. It noted that hackers were targeting financial institutions, government networks, and other critical infrastructures in order to steal money or data.

The report concluded by recommending that organizations should adopt a proactive approach to cyber security in order to protect themselves from cyber-attacks. It also suggested that businesses should invest in defending their networks and data against cyber-attacks.
