Vikram Kirloskar passes away at 64

The vice-chairman of the group, Vikram Kirloskar, has passed away at the age of 64. He was a member of the fourth generation of the family that runs the Kirloskar Group.

Vikram Kirloskar was the vice-chairman of Kirloskar Brothers Limited, the flagship company of the Kirloskar Group. He was also the vice-chairman of Kirloskar Systems Ltd, Kirloskar Pneumatic Co Ltd and Kirloskar Integrated Technologies Ltd.

In addition, he was the chairman of Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd and Kirloskar Brothers Investments Ltd. He was also a director of several companies in the Kirloskar Group.

Vikram Kirloskar was born in Pune on 4th January 1956. He completed his schooling from The Bishop’s School, Pune and The Doon School, Dehradun. He graduated from The Lawrence School, Sanawar and then from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, USA with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He started his career with the Kirloskar Group in 1980 and held various positions in the company. He was the managing director of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd from 1999 to 2003. He was also the chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Western Region from 2009 to 2010.

Vikram Kirloskar was a passionate cricketer and was a member of the Pune Ranji Trophy team. He was also the president of the Pune District Cricket Association from 2009 to 2012.

He is survived by his wife Deepa and two children, Aditi and Akshay.
